Education in Thailand

It is difficult to imagine circumstances in the life of suffering so that feelings of hopelessness as a result of parents willing to send their children to go to work in sweat shops, factories and the sex industry. In undeveloped areas where you will find options for education beyond the sixth year is almost impossible, the children are left with few options to help their families survive. Unfortunately, this is a painful situation in many urban areas in Thailand, where this "solution" to violence in social life tolerable.

Teaching Learning Center (TLC) in Vietnam, Thailand, the situation for many young people are marginalized. TLC offers the power of knowledge and education that young people can use to assess their own needs and the needs of their community as a constructive, as well as understand how their gifts can be used to benefit local communities.

Research Foundation for Sustainable Development of Thailand (SDRF), who founded the Center for Study of Education in Thailand, dealing with the issue holistically, fix the source of the problem - the inefficiency of the education system. The SDRF do this by partnering with local schools to provide support and education opportunities for young people at risk.

TLC offers a wide range of possibilities, ranging from after school program of study and research programs, which include options such as research and public health practice, research and farming practices, agricultural research and practice, research and development of forest practices, spiritual, cultural and local research and development musicology and ecological building research and practice.
FTA also provides a sort of dormitory housing situation 32 the youngest at risk.

There is great interest in this community project because the students attending the rapidly increasing number of TLC. This project, which began last month, has experienced great success. Currently there are 12 students living in dormitories, but many more are interested in this project, it is a great need for a second bedroom. All students receive a grade for their work and school are taught computer skills. The project has the food, equip the student begins, increasing crickets, and even chickens and garden planting. It's very interesting to see how quickly the FTA basis for improving the future of Thai youth.

My take on Singapore education system

I think the education system provides too much emphasis on grades. The general attitude, puts on society, most parents and the whole educational system, if you do not score straight As and I do, that makes me a better person than you. Period. Nothing matters.

Education is not just about grades, and form the mind, the character of youth. Children imparts information system for exams, teach them how to submit questions for the exams, and then quickly forget after stepping out of the examination hall, so they can cram their minds with more for the next exam. The system teaches us not to be thinkers, but a follower. There should be more emphasis on teaching us to think, solve problems, not do something simply because "the book says so".
For example, one of my subjects in my course in Aerospace Engineering Aust, we only had 3-4 exercises in the first full semester of 15 weeks. 1 week, we were introduced to describe the problem, designing aircraft using a set of specifications for one piece of A4 paper, as well as 2 A4 paper describes the design features that focus on that and ignore doing. We put in groups of 9 -10, selected by the lecturer instead of letting us choose our own groups we know quite well because, in the industry, we can not get to choose to work with. The remaining 3 lessons we were taught nothing, rather it was used to make a presentation about our Progress (2 presentations) and the final presnentation. Lecturers from all departments and industry figures selected were on hand to listen to us to present our design and floor was open for questions from anyone after finishing with a group presentation. We had to design every aspect of the plan, from the wings, landing, tail, cockpit, the choice of the machine and pull design of CAD / CAM. None have taught us, we were told to use whatever we learned in our design prior years. Lecturers were available for questions, otherwise we are alone. Grading is done by a combination of assessing your teammates you, and the lecturers reading your final report. Nobody can see the subject taught in schools as Singapore? I do not. The friends can not I who said that Singaporeans.

Finally, the education system I think that not only teach children to be familiar, but also how good of a person. Grades are not everything. Everytime I come back to Singapore for a holiday, students from schools look so called top, like spending behavior without consideration for those around them. And this is, I fear, where the Singapore education system is failing. All too often, we are good students, but people are lousy ....

Education in South East Asia

Southeast Asia is a region that includes countries such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam. The population in this area is approximately € 600,000,000. Fluctuating population of the country with the lowest population in the country with the fourth largest population. Level of cultural, religious and socio-economic development in this area vary widely. Most countries still hold the view here developed the â € œunder the city? tag.

Even after all these differences, the region is known for the development of human resources. Working life as one big company with an incredible tangle of information. Grow parallel to the whole world and to change the way information is no longer cultivated. Every country has the fundamental right to education adopted for the entire population and are considered a fundamental right to development. Philippines adopted a law that all citizens have the right to education. Government to quickly develop the education system to create a modern state capable of proceeding with the rest of the country. Malaysia has also taken important steps to improve the nation € ™ s economy with high growth rates. He developed nation status by creating a society that is democratic, united and liberal. Brunei also has been very successful in raising the educational level of its citizens at a high level. He has 12 years of free education for all children, including two years of college. This has helped improve the literacy rate above 90%. Indonesia to take innovative steps to improve education in this country to address the diverse needs of people with very diverse. Cambodia is in the purification process of educational policy to prevent and deal with the world is Vietnam.

Better outreach

Since the above events took place at the Singapore National Arts Council, contact the PA expressing a willingness to cooperate. Hopefully, the Palestinian Authority to take informed to consult in Singapore in March

One is tempted to look at all of this message. PA always clear that his education program, such as consulting firms, or lesson plans for imagination, which provide flexibility, so that its approach to education, but seriously, to adapt to different needs. It would certainly be a must in a separate culture from ours in South Korea. But the message seems to imply that the humanitarian front, the growing expectations of the same worldwide, international trade by the way, opened the doors to genuine exchanges. By "real" we mean that we are far from polite handshakes that cold of a bygone era, when the nations of propaganda eager to share a dance group or folk symphony, often without public participation, and without the extra effort to understand each other, some educational ideologies as close as possible to get the two countries.

But this spin. Knobs-Brandon recounts a conversation with South Korean educator, was astute observer of American entanglement with memorization and standardized tests, he said, "You know, sometimes I think you're going where we were once a . "It would be a cruel irony if Asia eventually we learn our own lessons. No doubt he will be able to do so. For example, the Asia Society will take the plunge and launched two new branches, one in Hong Kong, another in Houston, despite the thinning staffing are rife art institutions. Why risky investment?

In an interview with the New York Times, said Ronnie Chan, the developer, involved in the project, "The world is much more interconnected today, hence the need to understand over time, more than ever. " President of the Asia Society, Vishakha N. Desai adds: "People thought I knew about the Asia-fine" I'll get to him when I can. "Now it is a necessity."

Despite predictions of Kipling, Twain shall meet.

What changes we can see from East Asian countries to the West (part II)

Changes and impact on the Lincoln Center Institute

In January, the cooperation between Korea South Munhwa Broadcasting Company (MBC), one of the major national television networks, to produce a documentary on SFAC arts education. The Neo-Cultural Revolution and the art world: Its working title. When the filmmaker Sunah contact the SFAC Kim, who was among the first beneficiaries of the ICL to consult with an international firm, based also recommended the index of labor costs in the project. MBC interview our CEO, Scott Brandon knobs and graduated from high school of the artistic imagination, and the study was the first school established in the educational principles of the PA.

SFAC ever, it must be said, and blindly followed the example of a PA, it is not culturally appropriate. At the same time, he pushed agenda that is contrary to the cultural environment, education and non-competitive learning to focus on aesthetics, imagination and creativity, which is almost a new concept as the Western and Eastern.

Artistic life, which was broadcast in South Korea on January 26 there were four people with life-changing experience, thanks to the creative arts education. Buy SFAC and PA practices and philosophies are saying. Hope for the program is that it means for public awareness of the other options on the Korean education system existing. In light of the foregoing, Factoids, hope this is revolutionary.

Here are some topics Kim Sunah sketches of the film:
"All people are equal. But, says the reality that this world is another story. Most intense competition. Winner takes all possible with the loser forced to live on. Nobody wins all the time. What makes a happy life is not winning the race. At age 21, people learn the importance and the importance of artistic and creative experience. When learning to express our feelings and creative ideas, we can know who we are and what makes us happy. "

In November 2011 World Summit of Innovation Education in Qatar, said Dr Ko Yeong Jin, State Superintendent of Education Office of Gyeongnam in South Korea, under the creative care debate. Dr. Ko, a fan of "human education" and organizer of such intimacy that produce vehicles such as the "Friend Day" the most eloquent of what he called a holistic system "of education, which It can not exist without creativity. "

Dr. Ko, a heavily emphasized the word "happiness" rather than "success", describing the three questions that had identified schools as key to supporting the creative process. It is known to all: schools should be read as if they are learning that reading is a happy business, they can get, not only creativity, but also develop their own and become independent thinkers.

There are two other themes are something we have learned to expect from an ultra-competitive battle Asia, leaned in Mathematics and Science: Lesson schools (see opinion), where the whole family sings and schools. As a brief summary of the President's statement, without health, it is hard to find happiness in life ergo training. Music brings us happiness and the mind develops.

What changes we can see from East Asian countries to the West (part I)

Success brings its own demands for changes
Since the second World War, East Asia has become the fastest growing economies in the world. Japan soon joined by China, sweeping, Singapore, South Korea and other countries also appear to meet the market's success.
From the beginning of the ascent to the post-war, the East Asia made education a priority. Now his pedagogical changes. Although this is far less than the debate about the economy, it is certain that a large effect on the relations in East Asia to the West.
A historical logic to the sequence: in general, as the country's economic success increases, so does their emphasis on progressive methods of education. The second reflects the aspirations of the people, we want to encourage our children to their growth as individuals and their position on the global interdependence of economics and education: to maintain the viability of a large market, the economy of the country where skilled labor is ready for thinking future, economic and educational need to provide the latest technology: computers, laboratories, and so on.
A modern economy requires off-track. When a foreign solitude, the countries of East Asia into the world market, and let it infuse their world. Their education has sought to complement the global economy by producing a highly skilled business professionals experienced in mathematics, science and English. Changes in the trend is surprising, even if they are, partly at least, encourage the purchase of the same basic trend: the need to let the world be
South Korea is experiencing a wave of immigration: Many come to seek business opportunities and remain, plant roots in new soil. They come with their own traditions and hope to compete with them. America was built on the premise, but in South Korea, China or Japan, is a relatively new concept and difficult. There is the need for tolerance and progress that has contributed to changes in education. Since the Lincoln Center Institute (PA) cooperation with the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture (SFAC), the changes are of great interest to us.
Did a quick look at South Korea's education system, we are almost unimaginable nation preoccupied with success in the classroom, which produces amazing results. In 1945, the majority of illiterate adults. Today, almost every literate person. Step is 90% of high school, has 180 colleges and universities across the country. Students studying for hours and "Cram" late at night and on weekends, under strict control and authority over teachers doubt that intensive training. More recently, the students achieved the highest average value in math and science in the world.
PE is not considered educational. Many schools do not have a gym or sports. Remember this when you read Dr Ko later in this article.
Stiff competition embedded in the culture of many countries in Asia are legendary, so it comes as no surprise that South Korean students for competitive examinations called "test Mania" (a moniker borrowed from Japan, did not mince words, no, it's' exam hell "). Examinations leading to admission generate huge amounts of qualified candidates, they also generate high levels of candidate rejection. Some search for suicide among college students fail.
